Stella is another of our uber talented speakers. Although I haven't met her in person I have an amazing illustration of my boys that she drew on our wall. Best Christmas present for the hubby ever. Stella is one of those multi-talented types who is impossible to dislike. We're looking forward to meeting her in April - her birthday parties are pretty darn stunning too.
My name: Stella Rutherford
My blog address: www.verydarkhorse.blogspot.com
How long have you been blogging for? Just over three years
What on earth made you say yes to speaking/answering questions at this event? Joy at being asked! And because it's a challenge and those can be quite exciting sometimes - I'm all about seizing the opportunity for an adventure!
How do you feel about meeting new people? I do get a bit nervous, but love that feeling when you just click, and you know you've just met a lifelong friend.
What is the best thing about blogging? Hmmm, tough question. For me there are so many bests. Firstly, I have made some really lovely friendships through blogging, supportive friends who have brought me comfort during some quite tough times.
I also love that blogging challenges me to up my skills a bit. To write more thoughtfully, to improve my photo-taking, and to put more care into my creative endeavors.
I have also learnt SO many new things since I've been a blogger. I could literally go on and on and on. But I won't. I've got my blog for that...
Please choose 5 words to describe your blog: Adventurey, illustrationey, party-y, photo-y, ermmmmmm.... friendly? (I hope!)
How do you spend your days in real-life? I am the worst housekeeper in the universe, but I usually spend the morning struggling away at that (after a coffee in bed - yep, spoilt). The rest of our day is usually made up with one or two of these: playdates, Mainly Music, grandparent visits, Playcentre, painting, swimming, nature walks, rest time, stories and so on. In the evenings I try and get creative work done, or blogging if I am just.too.tired. to think about sewing or drawing.
What is one thing you’d like to change about yourself? I can be very disorganised, and pretty messy sometimes. Those things.
What is one thing you love about meeting bloggers or reading blogs? I've only met a small handful of blogger friends, and I loved how (after the initial shyness) we all just clicked and felt naturally like old friends. There are so many more bloggers I would love to meet, which is the really exciting thing about this event! Yuss!
What is something you are really proud of? Um, apart from the obvious (and cheesy) answer - my kids - I am also quite proud to have finished a YA manuscript a few years back. I'm actually still stuck in the have-to-edit-and-edit-and-edit-and-it-will-never-be-really-finished stage, but I was stoked to have the story shortlisted for the Tessa Duder Award last year.
One blog post you love: I think I get most joy out of my party posts - this little Christmas party was a favourite:
