Who Are These People?

Well I thought it would be nice to smush our lovely team into one post so you can see them all in one place.

Some have large roles and others smaller ones but truth is there wouldn't be a Get Together if they hadn't said yes. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay back last year I sent out an email to the chch bloggers and asked them if they thought we could do it.

And they said yes.

And then these crazy  er, enthusiastic ladies said they would help to make it happen.

So I asked them all these 'number questions'  (clearly I have nothing better to do!)

1 strange thing about you
2 favourite indulgences
3 things you'd like to be good at
4 words to describe your involvement in organising this
5 feelings you have about Around The Table

And these are the responses. (Click on their photos to get to their blogs.)

Coffee (it makes me ridiculously happy...I may or may not be addicted). Pinterest. I love collecting ideas for my home as well as ideas for outfits. Check out my boards (pinterest.com/sweetasnzgirl)
things you'd like to be good at
Firstly, I would like to be good at sewing so I can create and recreate my own outfits. I'm not exactly a mainstream fashion type of girl - I tend to go for more classic/retro styles and often can't find what I want in the shops. Would anyone like to give me lessons?! Shock horror, a non-crafter is attending Around the Table! I'm sure there are more of you out there...it's ok, you're not alone! ;-) Secondly (I know this is slightly strange but here goes), I would like to be good at swimming. Yes I can float and swim a couple of lengths if I need to but when it comes to swimming for fitness or a triathlon, I'm completely ruined!

strange thing about you
I'm allergic to eggs! Which can be quite frustrating when staring down a brunch menu!!
favourite indulgences
Would have to be shopping, especially for designer pieces. One of my favourite, pre-baby indulgences would be cruising the racks at Sass and Bide (sadly, not so much these days) and LOLLIES!! I'm so naughty with my sugar addiction, I can easily devour a whole packet in one sitting.
things you'd like to be good at
Singing (that ain't never going to happen!!). Floristry, I tinker with it occasionally, but haven't 'mastered' it yet! And mechanical things, I'm really a damsel in distress when it comes to anything located in the 'man cave', with the exception of a hammer and a screwdriver, although even they can create havoc occasionally!

strange thing about you
I can't do sit-ups unless I prop my feet under a sofa for balance, or have someone pin them down. Never have. Weirdly, it's got nothing to do with fitness, because even at my best (ie high school) when I used to work out 6 days a week and could do ALL SORTS OF abdomen exercises, I couldn't, for the life of me, get up from a sit-up. Even my coach couldn't figure out why. I'd love to know why though.

Killinchy Gold maple syrup & walnut ice cream. And a good, juicy pomelo. (It's sort of like a grapefruit, minus the bitterness.)

strange thing about you
During my pregnancies I have had occasional flashes of a super-sensitive sense of smell. Not of the "blerg, that smell that normally I love makes me want to barf" kind, but of the "OMG I can smell the difference between different kinds of trees in the woods" kind. Amazing. But a little strange, no?

strange thing about you
Although I was born and educated in Scotland, I was seriously worried that I was going to have to do an "English as a second language" exam before getting professional registration in New Zealand (and technically according to the rules that they set I should have!)
favourite indulgences
Sewing and chocolate.
things you'd like to be good at
Art (I can't draw to save myself!). Public speaking (I turn bright red and start stumbling... not good!). Keeping my house tidy (although with two little people in the house my ability to ignore mess can save my sanity at times!!!)

"How did this happen?!" (I went along to a meeting prepared to help out a little bit and somehow was talked into a fairly major role in the organisation committee. Still not sure how that happened, because I don't organise!!! Its flattering to know the Christchurch girls have faith in me - I'll do my best to make this event go off as hitch free as possible!!!)

strange thing about you
My legs don't tan - between my ankle and my knee. It seems as much as I try to expose them to the sun they stay quite white. I've recently come to the conclusion that fake tan is the way to go. Thank you Lord for making someone smart enough to invent that awesome stuff!

Please do take a moment to meet these ladies over the weekend and let them know if you've had a good time because it is their work and enthusiasm that has made this whole crazy thing happen. All their hopes and plans and decisions have whirled around the hope YOU will enjoy yourself. I am kinda really proud of them. :o) Just sayin!
